A family trauma and crisis sent me in search of healing and eventually led me to Nan’s Rock Shop & Spiritual Center, and Carol Layton.
Having participated in meditations, healing circles & other sessions offered at the center, I was encouraged to take training in the Usui Reiki Method of Natural Healing, with Carol as my Master/Teacher.

Reiki is an ancient “natural healing” technique originating from Japan. It is a gentle touch, energy balancing & relaxation therapy. Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Force. It’s basic principles are working with the chakras (energy centers of the body) clearing stress, blockages, and negative thoughts and patterns so that the body is lighter, more focused and able to naturally heal itself. It can be used to enhance lifestyle, personal healing, and complements (strengthens) effects from other healing therapies and practices.”[1]
It is hard to put into words what Reiki means to me. I am a different person because of it & grateful for the ability to help others. Reiki is very spiritual & connects me intimately to a higher source of “love peace & harmony”. A gift has been opened up to me, & a desire to share this gift with others has led to my practice of this energy balancing touch.
